BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES is a chemistry and biology double major that covers broad areas of both subject areas. Chemistry course taken included the introductory chemistry courses, basic and advanced organic chemistry as-well as Biochemistry courses. • Organic chemistry courses provided an understanding of bonding in organic molecules as well as the relationship between chemical structure and physical, chemical and other properties of the molecules. • Biochemistry courses gave an insight of biological processes and covered the chemistry of proteins, their structure and function. Further-more it provided an understanding on the scientific explanation for many biological phenomenon. A broad area of biological sciences disciplines were covered across different fields of specialisation these being cells and molecules, molecular biology and genetics, Basic physiology of both plants and animals as well as animal physiology. • Cells and Molecules provided an understanding of cell organisation structure and basic aspects of cellular functioning and role of organelles • Molecular Biology and Genetics covered principles of transmission and translation of genetic information and how the genes the basic units of hereditary guide the growth and the development of the offspring into adult. • Animal Physiology is a course that attempts to understand the behaviour of organisms and their functions can be explained in terms of the known chemicals properties of substances, the nature of known chemical reactions and the known physical laws of energy. This course further provides an understanding of the aspects of organ and system physiology as well environmental animal physiology. My qualification also enabled me to gain knowledge in advanced mathematics as well as introductory physics courses which I can tutor also. I took mathematical methods 1 and 2 in addition to the GCE mathematics I took in which I scored a distinction hence I have a strong foundation in mathematics which I can tutor. In addition introductory physics 1 and 2 also gave me a great understanding of physics as I was able to cover various physics courses across two semesters. Further my high physics also gave me a strong foundation as was evident from the GCE examination result in which I scored a distinction.
